Yes pretty sure plug leads are on right- have checked against Haynes Manual. Its a DG engine BTW
I subscribe to the theory that it must be something relatively simple. I've had the van for about 2 months and started it regularly every week with no probs at all.
BTW I'm in Bristol near M5
Something similar to Fawlty towers

got to echo Mik..
you know they're right, we know they're right.. Hell, the dog has checked them, and the right leads are on the right plugs
BUT
just check them again...
I have had the exact same thing on my old Aircooled. the Aircooled will run with the wrong firing order... not pretty, but will run[/i]

IT STARTED!
Not really sure why- thought I'd check the leads again last night - swapped 1 and 2 and it kind of started. Then this morning put them back to what i thought was correct and it started straight away albeit running a bit rough but can live with that.
So thanks to all who offerd insight/help
Just for my curiosity however I have the leads arranged as follows which is what my Haynes manual says
ENGINE
3 1
4 2
DISTRIBUTOR
3 2
4 1

good stuff!!
I always work it out by leaning the cap slightly off the dizzy, and watching the arm, and following the lead from the dizzy cap to the plug. It sounds stupid, but it's soooo easy to mis-follow a cable. If you do it from the notch on the dizzy leading to cylinder 1, then work your way round the firing order you'll get it right...
then
do the same again to double check it!
