have to agree here after German bread... English bread is pants.
Some German visitors I have spoken to have bought toasters because our bread is so bland..

not easy to get hold of at your local corner shop though

If you have a thick bottomed frying pan, you can contact toast your bread in it. No need for oil, I've been doing it for years.

Don't try it with a nonstick pan, and the heavier the bottom, the better.

Stainless steel frying pans work best.

I agree with the posters on German bread being superrior to English, but the point I think the grill nay-sayers are missing is Cheese

AS in cheese on toast (try that in an electric toaster) and tortillas covered in grated cheese and placed under the grill, decadence in a camper itself mmmmmmm........................
