Nope - they flatten your battery too.
I just can't see the benefit of having a fridge on for 6 hours! Keep the battery for useful stuff like lights - keep the fridge on the mains!
At least then, while your surfing the net in the van, you can get a cold beer out the fridge (i'm assuming you can hook up the van to the mains when outside the house).
Some people have sheds - we have vans!

2 way fridge gas and 12v.. I reckon the 12v will run the battery flat in a few hours. but the gas will be very effecient.

Why not just extend the fridge wire (either by using a cheap extension lead tucked away safely so water cant get in it, or by fitting a junction box) so you can access it easy..
Then you can run it on the inverter when driving etc and then unplug it from the inverter and plug it into the mains when hooked up... then a small battery charger will charge you les batt up no probs...
The inverter needs to mounted in a well ventilated are too.. to keep it cool...
