what about going to stealer and buying proper plug and seal

could be wrong item from jk

if not wrap the plug using ptfe tape will stop oil leak as temp fix

Vw's are metric, why confuse matter with silly old imperial threads.
M16x1.5.
I have sucessfully taken one out to M18 too.

didn't know about the renault sump plug option when i tapped my silly old 5/8 U.N.F. thread, simon

still it cured it anyway, got to be better than car body filler, or P.T.F.E. tape!
