Re the welds, only an assumption, but I'd guess whoever did the original engine swap modified the downpipe to fit, rather than using flexi-pipe

It's a right fiddle to get the two left mounts done up at the best of times.
You weren't joking about that, were you?

Chaps, can someone please explain studs to me?
https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/exhaus ... -downpipe/
https://brickwerks.co.uk/product/exhaus ... er-coated/
The studs will only go half a turn into the manifold, and the nuts will only go a couple of turns onto the studs. I've tried both ends with the same result, but they also have 'V' and 'M' marked onto them so I assume there is some difference.
Can anyone advise? I haven't put any pressure on them yet, I figured I should ask the experts first. What am I missing or doing wrong?
This is as far as the nuts will go by hand. The old rusty studs and nuts seem to fit equally
well badly with the new ones.

The nuts are squashed across the flats in manufacture so they are self locking. Once tight they won't shake loose.
