if the response had been "driveability/reliability" overe economy... then give it a whirl... but if your trying to shave £££ on running costs your probably going to be disapointed,, it's been the same scenario for deades..

Well set up modern EFI will excell over a carb or early FI setup in terms of the ability to tailor the stratergies for conditions..but it will cost a lot of rollers to build a one off perfet set of maps for just one car.

I was told the kit improved MPG. Hence my reason for asking if anyone had fitted the kit. But as you are more knowledgeable than myself, I will take it MPG won't be improved.

It might improve the cold start and warm up cycle mixture control, combined with sparks arriving when they really need to for all engine load conditions (a dissy can only do so much, a 3D map is so much better) so yes mpg gains should be expected.

Surely there are real world reviews of this system out there with peeps who have fitted it and recorded their experiences of it from both the driveability and fuel economy experience, same with the GoWesty kit. I don't look at the Samba at all these days, but hopefully this stuff is being seriously peer reviewed rather than just promoted in the vacuum of social media.
I've looked into doing a ems using what's readily available in the UK but reckoned there's not enough of a market to make the development worth while; Digifant does a job, and with a 40 year old pushrod engine I am not sure there's enough benefit to invest the time and money in it now - you can now get an optical air flow meter from Dream and Drive, refurbished throttle bodies from GoWesty and iirc MarcoMansi can supply injectors, so as long as your wiring and ECU are okay you can keep the engine running on efi without too much issue...you have to do a lot of miles to make it economic to invest, same with which LPG which promised a lot but didn't make enough of a difference unless you were an early adopter, lived where the fuel was readily and reliably available and did the miles and were able to service the system for the long term

Accuracy of the ignition timing is a factor, too. With a load of cogs and springs and bellows controlling the advance (each with its own lash, friction, resonance and non-linearity), the timing can wander around. Without the uncertainty you can comfortably target more advance.

The OE fuel ECU and idle control gubbins on these is very very primitive, there's quite a lot of driveability gains to be had before you even start on performance and MPG.

If I sell my T6, the first treat for the T25 will likely be one of these kits.

I'm well aware  that under the surface it's just an off the shelf microsquirt ECU and standard parts sourced from other OEMs. The throttle body and loom are really the only custom parts and I'm perfectly capable of doing it from scratch (I first built and fitted one to my 106 rallye over 20 years ago!) but the mapping and development take a lot of time and skill.

Our old ECU's are pretty durable too, iirc the most common fail point is the injector earthing transistors?
When syncrosport remade my wbx6 engine harness I had breakout plugs added so that an ignition ecu could be added later (with a locked distributor)
VAG did some halfway fixed distributor/mapped ignition engines, the Sharan ADY 2.0 with the Seimens ecu springs to mind. Now that did work well (apart from the regular coil failures) and could return 40mpg which was good for a petrol 7 seat mpv.

So no before and after like 4 like economy comparison?

I have only read the first couple of pages. I take it you have read them all and there's no mention of MPG gains. It saves me reading them.

So its MAP sensed (deletes the AFM) with coil on plug, but a BLUETOOTH enabled distributor sending signals to the ecu to fire the coils? Why?
I think I'd rather have a hardwired distributor for reliability!

He was making a joke... The dizzy is unused (other than to plug the hole). Timing is all done off the crank sensor - There's no need to know the cam phasing if you're using wasted spark.

:rollin Its so hard to know these days, its obvious now you say it...

Why retain the distributor at all then? Not as though its there for backup purposes. A blanking plug with a O-ring would seal it up.

I was going to suggest the oil pump drive might come off the back of the dizzy, but then I spent the 20 seconds to remember where the oil pump is on a WBX..
IIRC he offers a blanking plate with the later kits.

I was looking at one with blankign plugs for the dizzy/pump and the poster mentioned somethign about loosing something down tge dizzy tube and being an engine strip job... But I can't find the thread or picture.

Leave it in and fit a clear cap with a rotating blue light in it for fuin :)
