Yeah you need a good fuel supply, changing the filter and cleaning the cone filter in the carb will help. If theres still nothing then its probably your pump, pretty easy to change. Also what condition is your tank in? You might consider changing it if your new filter starts to fill up with crud again.

Thanks all and having the carb on Friday will be a big help so thank you for that :ok . I orderd a new fuel filter, well a few so we can have some spare. The fuel tank is only 2 years old as we had a new one put on when we got the van. The fuel pump is not the original and is the cheaper one by the looks of it. Not the proper one so it most likely is that. My mechanic Bob from voxlhaust said to drop it by next week and he will have a look. If I can't get it going it's off to him I think. Just want to be on the road again and enjoying the weather together in our van

You might as well get the rod and mount (the old one is easy to break) as well. Very cheap and handy as a spare in any case.
