test coil resistance but my money is on broken wire or ignition amp

Just tested the coil and I'm getting 3.06 ohms of both the primary and secondary terminals. Is this the cause?
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

'89 panel van, 1.9 DG.

I have, several times. bit odd that both circuits read the same value.

shorted coil (insulation breakdown)
new one tomorrow then :ok
crappy GSF one will hopefully get you going then order a proper one

I have read excessive use of stainless steel causes high eddie currents in the body earth that can damage coil insulation

I've got an ECP in Salisbury, hopefully, they do a quality one.

Have you got the green label Bosch one Mitch? I bought one of these genuine ones off of eBay - cheapest I could find:

gren or grey makes no difference
one is a longer service version gives higher spark voltage if you abuse your service intervals afaik

It's been mentioned that I should test the dizzy for an output signal as this triggers the coil? More info to confuse me, is this likely? It appears that I need a coil regardless but I don't want to pin all my hopes on it being a quick fix only to find it still won't run.

unless you tested it wrong it's faulty.
The chances of two faults at the same time is slim but possible.
