So disassemble the rear storage/internal roof lining to create access to the said area??

That's about the top and bottom of it ... in an ideal world you'd take the roof off.

Yes
I would be setting aside some time and money to properly fix the issue.

Which sealant do you suggest? Sikaflex 221? 512? Non-drying mastic? The more I investigate the more confused I get.
