Yes you could do, it would involve making sure all the connections and terminals were made to be safe with 240 Volts, plus the switch would have to be in an enclosure etc. As said, I don't use hook up, but have been known to use an extension lead into the van, in which case I just plug the inverter into that. only take 5 seconds and is simple and safe.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
