Hello everyone, new dawn etc...
In trying to disconnect the bus bar, the head of the first glow plug sheared off. So now the bus bar feeds 3 glow plugs, which incidentally look in way better condition than the first one!
I phoned a friend who is nor a VW expert but general mechanic and he said that I should now be wary of the top of the glow plug shearing off and the rest then being stuck in the engine block. I guess that is where the plus gas rather than WD40 comes in?
WD40 had not helped loosen that first nut so, so far, I've not been able to test the wiring between the bus bar and the relay - but the ohmmeter still seems to read zero at the start of the bus bar. So I assume a new fuse will blow again, but maybe for 80p (with three left) I should try.
This is becoming a bigger job.... but in the short term I dearly want to get it to the MOT retest tomorrow - but I could wait until Tuesday (final day) when the temp should get up to 25 degrees, I'd be able to let that engine block bask in the sun, and even get out a hairdryer. Perhaps I will test that technique this afternoon but should it work?
I have read about a direct connection battery to bus bar but that sounds scary!
