Agreed, I too have had caps that work but don't "quack".

Tip = Get your cap and a garden hose, connected to your cold water tap. Wrap some electrical tape over the stub on the cap until it is a tight fit into the hose. Now turn the tap on and off a few times. This blasts any muck out of the caps one way valve / flap thingie and often restores the correct operation without having to buy a new cap.

+1 on the don't buy GSF / JK etc ones. Genuine VW or the slightly cheaper OEM quality ones from Brickwerks ;)
