TNT were trialling "Smith" prototype 7.5 tonners round here a couple of years ago. No problems with the 415v batteries or motors, just stupid things like no cab heating...which they could easily have connected from the motor cooling system, according to the driver!

we had them at our depot, fitted with electric cab heaters, all the electric vehicles went to london when they upped the emission/tax levels a few years ago
all the big companies ups/dhl/tnt etc are awaiting other cities taking londons lead with emissions as it is believed the 7.5t truck is a dinosaur and the whole sector will shift to 5t vehicles

as for money no object, i would put the audi v8 tdi in the back of my karmann, trouble is the conversion parts are available but the girlfriend still wont let me

If I had no conscience at all then it would be the Porsche 32v V8 from the late 928S4 and nailed to a short-nose G50...

I always fancied a 928 but was a bit scared of the potential for massive bills. Nearest I got was a 944. I guess a 944 3.0 might make an interesting T25 engine, in period and VAG.

While is appreciate the design purity of the original my favourite is the 928S2. The rear end seems more "together" somehow, the original recessed lights were never "Porsche" to my eyes.
