when i checked the dipstick there was no oil line at all, but it only took 1.5litres so hope fully its not as bad a first thought. im praying thats the case anyway. the engine was perfect before this ive done 8thousand miles in it and its been brilliant except for the oil leaks. which i cant fix as whoever rebuilt the engine before prised the crankcase apart with a screwdriver or somthing...twit.

the knocking noise stopped on the way home and its only making a bearing rattle noise coming from the bottom end, how hard is it to replace these bearings?

im going to have a look this weekend, hopefully its fixable, fingerscrossed

Full engine strip and rebuild. Drop the motor out and start dismantling to see what you`ve got to play with :) heads off first and cheack for valve probs etc. After that it`s a crankcase split to access the bottom end. :? Couple of hours work
Keep it real.

smoking, rings or cylinders maybe damaged, I burnt out the exhaust valve on my CU, bit of a weak point on them (number 3 from memory) compression test should establish valve wear/ring wear, leak down test establish wether its rings or valves.

ive decided to replace the piston rings, pistons and barrels valve guides and valves and the main end bearings , plus anything else i find when taking it apart. hopefully it should be ok when ive done this. the only problem im having at the moment is i cant find the main end bearings and valves (inlet/exhaust) for sale. are they the same as the 1600 ac engine as i can find those.

ben

If you crank case leaks oil cos some numpty damaged the seal between the halves shouldn't you be looking for a new crank case too? someone must have one knocking about, I've got a wbx one in my garage obviously no use to you, but there might be someone on here with an a/c one... stick a post in wanted?
