Choke will not set with accelerator

Thanks for the clarification. In the end, I set the tang so it was in the middle of the slot. I figured this would give me enough adjustments either way. I set it up on the fast idle and adjusted the choke flap as per the Haynes manual. Bolted it back on. It set on the accelerator with a good idle. I run it round the block and got it warm and checked the choke had opened fully. All working correctly.

Again many thanks to you guys for the answers, I now know how the choke is supposed to work.

Indeed it is, like so many things on these old vans, it is better to be more intimate with it, because when problems arise, and advice is given, you'll know where to begin.
Garages have to start at the beginning with every van, there are no quick diagnosis computers for T25's. just experience and old fashioned knowledge.
