Well wont help just cruise it as much as possible on neutral throttle. Not too many miles should be alright. Only you can know. .. I'd prob risk it but knock into neutral on long downslopes etc. Dont keep changing gear if clutch a problem or get a tow.

Many thanks Harry, any contacts for the syncro club? I'd much prefer to get a VW enthusiast on it at this stage, anyone with any contacts in the Nantes/vandee region please post, many thanks

Hey, did you get gearbox sorted, I have a spare diesel gearbox from a t25 but no bell housing. :ok
