You're right - at 1mm it's half as thick as the original. But it's only supporting the joint between the rubber flexi hose and the short (~3") u-shaped pipe in the back of the calliper. So the only pull on it will be from the tension in the flexi at full lock - I reckon it'll be fine for the time being.

I was only saying to the lad in programming, the bloke on the laser and the guy on the press brake how gifted i am at sheet metal....
