OK look lets start again....

I think the problem here is that you have it in your head that the buttons on the end of the lifter arm go through the big hole in the slide rail front on. They don't.....

1 take the lifter arm off your van and start again.
2 with the skylight held open get the lifter arm and put the arms through the slots in the rail.
3 then pull the arms back through again and just as it hits the buttons you can move the lifer down towards the van and the buttons are now on the inside of the rail.
4 fit the lifter to the van.

It really is very easy and should take no more than 5 minutes to do, I just went outside and did it again myself  We have sold over 60 of these world wide and this is the first time anyone has had any trouble fitting one. If you need talking through fitting one I can talk you through it on the phone, as well as the lowest prices on Westfalia parts we like to offer good personal aftermarket service you simply wouldn't get anywhere else.

You are going to kick yourself when it dawns on you how easy they are to fit

Thanks Jed! Off out to have a look in a mo.

Haha, don't worry, I'm fully aware it's my inadequacies and not the mechanism ;-)

I will report back shortly.

Yeah I know what you mean, I was the same with my lifter arm but such an easy worth while replacement. Every time I went out on a trip in my van I kicked myself for not remembering to change mine, especially as I have access to so many of them
