Gary - I had 140 KPH on the M5 out of my 16" - but probably shouldn't have. Having said that it didn't seem to strain too much. Lot of noise though although I am only running ATs.

87 mph on the clock.. so at least a true 80 :!:

Worth noting that the Tristars are generally quieter and more refined than normal 14" syncros. RHD Tristar's are as or almost as desirable as 16s, but condition will always determine desirability and price of course.

A good 14 is better than a so-so 16 and a good 16 or Tristar better than a std. model - common sense. Buy on body, transmission condition and how it drives and you won't be dissapointed. There's plenty of choice above!

I meant literal MPG on gas, not working out price equivalent. I'm currently enjoying a much improved LPG experience (cheers lads!), probably be into next week before I know how it's doing MPG wise . . .

Hear what your saying about +/- Clive, and know you have a bit of a bee in your bonnet about MPG calculation, however since last May, I've run the gas until the engine cuts out, then filled up 50 litres (give or take a litre) at the same place, driven 270 kms until it cuts out again. Whilst not the scientific measurement you crave, I think most people will agree it's a bloody good guide

Yes 16,s do have lower gearing(different between diesle and petrol)but this is to compensate for having bigger wheels.If this was not the case
u would be lacking in power.
There are many differences between 14's and 16's but basick structure is the same.The only advantage of a standard 16 over a 14 is ground clearance.
If u are looking for a van to modify for offroading a 14 is a far better
base to start from.But this depends on how far u want to go.

Fill-to-fill is really much more practical than 'till runs out', but as long as all those odo and liter fll figures are written down and no gaps between them, that'll do fine. It's when they're not, that I think my ears go a bit deaf when they're being quoted.

I can quite believe you've seen a literal 13mpg figure at some point Andy.

16" DoKa 2.1 DJ 17mpg since I've had it ~ 4yrs but I have spilled a lot with trash fuelcaps. Still smells. :(
65mph?
I have to throttle back even pulling the caraven :o
