Rivets instead of spot welds when fitting panels?

Rivets aren't a permanent joint whereas a spot weld is. Bodyshells are designed to flex and rivets could never do the same job on their own , unless designed to do so along with sone sort of structural adhesive.
Some later Jaguars are rivet and glue construction, a.la aircraft design, as they are built mainly of aluminium material.
The m.o.t. man wont like it and probably your insurers too if you had a nasty in it..... :(

Spot welds don't look too permanent when MetalMickey gets going on them :rollin
