sorry i have another van sat in my garden i took the dash pod from this and put it on my pickup the one with the problem now the gadge gos up to the top of the first mark on the face of the gadge so i am a bit happyer with that but now the flashing light stays (even if i plug in the old dash pod) on the only change i have made is i replaced the end of the wire with a slighty thicker wire only a few strands thicker could this cause that ?

If the light is flashing and the needle is on the low side of the dial then the flashing is being triggered by the low-coolant level sensor.
