Just back from a week in Skye and Arisaig on the West coast of Scotland in the hottest heat I have ever experienced up that way. The gas fridge was on the full time, day and night. I too have a co detector just in case. No issues.

What a feeling coming off the mountains to ice cold drinks.

Sorry, no signal. Bricked it again. Managed until 3am. I keep waking up having odd dreams so start worrying that I'm being poisoned. But no nausea or headaches or any other symptoms. What a "tw~nt".

Keep a CO alarm at your head height in bed and it will wake you if you need waking up .... daft lad !

Maybe if you left a window open? Would that allay your fears? Or a couple of windows for a cool through draught? Anyhow, it doesn't really matter, and you might be better just turning it off when you go to bed, at least you'll get a full nights sleep. We each have to do what makes us happiest, and it's not worth spoiling a holiday for. Is it a 3 way? Why not switch to leccy overnight and use gas during the day? Not sure if that's possible where you are camping, and for us it wouldn't be an issue - our fridge is one way - gas or nowt

Thanks peeps for all your advice and support. Went all the way last night, and so this fridge virgin is well and truly broken in.

Now to decide whether to stay another night or head home....

You should have another fridge night, make the most of the weather too.

We have always kept the fridge on gas while we are away 'cause it seems to work better and be cooler, that was with our bay'73 Devon until we got the T25 ie the last 29years just make sure that the exhaust is properly connected (this is important) and it will be no problem unless you drive back from LeMans and forget to turn the gas off and find your duck breast bbq has turned to permafrost that was 8 years ago and it still upsets me
