32 x 50 = 1600kg could be 3 or 4 trips

Hummmm yes they are 35mm each. They are going cheap on eBay used from someone's garden. Keep getting reminded from the other half to get the patio done. Said I'll do it woman you don't need to remind every 6 months lol

Depends on whether it's been maintained properly, or just "serviced", of course... Our van might have 180k miles on it, but I know the rear springs are near-new, whilst all the dampers look no more than a handful of years old. Quite a few other country MOTs check for damper function - it's a big omission in the UK test, IMHO.
It's not just the springs and dampers. It's what they are attached to. The laden weights are for a new vehicle. 25 years of deterioration won't help. I would really think twice before loading up to the publicised maximum laden weight.
I overloaded a Volvo 122s with paving slabs, hit a pothole and snapped both rear damper mounts. It bounced a bit after that!........too much rebound.
I agree and no way would I shove 50 in there. Last time I picked some up, the most I felt comfortable with was 15 at a time. It may well have taken more but just imagine what 15 paving slabs would feel like on your back. You could tow a trailer with a few more in that I suppose. Stopping can be a problem too - allow for the momentum created by the weight.

Braking is a good point. I recently towed a small sailing Dinghy down to Pendine in South West Wales. Its a really steep hill and it took a lot of stopping.
