Hi cov kid - B&B are my local suppliers...they are GSF agents and the vast majority of their stuff is supplied by GSF. I have got one of their CV joints on...been there 3 years i think now...nothing to report...guess I was lucky.
what concerns me though is that I though GSF were reputable if you were careful...
oh - and Spence at B&B is generally good with returns...even if used....if the part has let you down and you have the receipt. I haven't had to do it yet, but have been told to keep the receipt if I was concerned about quality!

Re: Only 3000 miles on front wheel bearings.
No and to their credit they did offer to replace (which I pointed out in previous posts - no complaints on that score) but since I'd have only got the same type again, with all the hassle of refitting, I couldn't see the point. The job is bad enough without repeat visits.
I can only conclude that those bearings are the low grade ones that GSF sell (they do two grades). I replaced them with Lobro ones and the problem vanished. The difference between the low/quality item is significant and you can see that the bearing has been hardened on the better ones with a bluish tinge to the bearing faces. Unfortunately with the stresses that T25 CV joints are under, the cheaper ones just don't cut the mustard and for that reason I can't recommend them - sorry.
The B and B ones didn't exactly fail (although one actually fell apart when I replaced them), they just clonked around far too soon (despite liberal use of CV grease) and were akin to joint wear of around ten years use with excessive wear in the cage and on bearing faces. The play in them was extraordinary considering they'd only been on there a few months. The noise was unbearable. I guess it wouldn't put me off buying other items from them - just not those particular CV joints.
To be fair, Spence didn't make them (and he was helpful) but he'd be better off only supplying the quality ones. It would save folk like me a lot of time and expense. There is little to indicate what make they are.

Thanks Covkid....useful info. And I reckon I have been lucky due to the limited mileage the van does! Useful knowledge on looking for the blue-ish tinge.
