basically it's a 0.11mm thick hi grade steel tube that you put onto a damaged shaft or other item that runs with a radial shaft seal to provide a new running surface for the seal - I use them to repair the gearbox output flange seal surface when scored when rebuilding the gearbox ; they come in a lot of sizes and provide a solution for lots of applications, they come with a fitting tool and instructions and the lip used for fitting can be removed as they are scored in such a way as to allow it to be effectively torn off - I don't go this as the application I use them in allows the lip to be pushed against the back of the flange out of the way of the seal - you need to measure the flywheel seal surface very accurately with calipers then look up in the SKF tables the correct speedisleeve or get your supplier to - most good bearing and seal specialists will be able to supply and have the look up chart - I use Brammer what used to be BSL
it was Ian Holman aka Silverbullet who put me on to them and my research found that 99177 is perfect for what I need to do and I've found the correct one for the front flange on the syncro gearbox too, Brickwerks now sell the one for the gearbox output flange
Not cheap but specialist quality never is
