Popular folklore has it that a Newman cam is a direct *ahem* replica of a schrick :wink:

The Newman is a regrind based on the Schrick pattern for sure.

I will soon be running one in my AGG and know a 268/270 degree will liven it up having had numerous MK2 GTI's with the same.

My Golf has a Schrick 304 degree cam and a stage 3 head - but mods like that a)cost lots b)aren't fuel efficient and c)aren't practical for general road use.

As Elvis says, past 270 and you get a lumpy idle, dodgy cold starts and an intractable torque curve low down. My 304 revs round past 9k but it's dead under 3k.

Just do it :ok

The Newman cams are a better price.
I think this will be on the Christmas present - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Newman-272-de ... 5d4456e722" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
