The Uberlord of all things wheels and suspension had advised me that I have to donate a wad of cash to his emporium to get them to fit (fantastic business model Simon). When I trial fitted them last night he would appear to be correct (clever dick!). Need longer studs & bolts so will be lining his pocket shortly!! May also have to machine the centres - will photo it all and post on here so peeps can see.

Bolted a rear wheel up just to get the impression and I recon with a 45 mm drop the bus will begin to look the business.

Only fly in ointment is the centre caps, the castle nut and front appear to want to push this off so I will need to do some creative butchery - anyone else had/done this?

sorry missed thyis one! the wheels you speak of will fit with no mods to wheels or van, however it is advised that you use collars on the nuts and bolts to ensure they are perfect fit, you'll see what i maean when you try!

Dave - sorry to be thick, but they seemed to bolt up ok - did I miss something? Where should I be looking? (did not get to York so did not need to pop in for tea!! Aparently the others who were camping got a bit wet and grumpy

)

Simon advised that spacers would be a good idea to get the ET closer to the middle of the standard VW range, which seems to make sense

went to try em out this morning and the front ones slipped over the centre cap, but only just. Back ones fit but there is still thread showing on the nuts.

Have sprayed the front centre cap black and I reckon if I hole cut a disc out of the placky centre disc they it will pass through and look pretty neat.

The back ones are another challenge alltogether.

you'll be able to cut a hole in the backs but the clips don't fit over the dust caps atthe front! you have thread left in the nuts which is apparently not safe, i drove round 10k miles with them straight on no bother. what i meant abbout the collars is the hole in the wheel is only a few mm smaller than the nut holding it on, overtighten and it will pull through the wheel! hope that makes sense??! i've a set to put on my van sat in the garden, but nothe 6 spokes. got any pics then??

I now understand what you mean about the collar - are these a custom bit I can buy from Mr Baxter (may as well just pass him the deeds to the house, the wife and kids to save time later!!!)

I have just bought granada 6 spokes for my van. Had to open the centre bore, then they went on OK. Only problem is centre caps wont fit on, wheel hub sticks out too far. Let me know how u get on.

what wheels have you got??. blurb, go down the scrappy, get a set of ford granny nuts, file off the collars, hey presto a few quid! no deeds to house!!

as for the centre caps, you might get the front to fit if you chop out around the outside ofthe clips and attch?? also get a trolley jack, you'd be gutted if it fellover onto that nice shiny new wheel! also get some tyres!!

Hi Dave - like your thinking.
You cannot see the two axle stands under the bus as well as the jack. It fell off the jack a few months ago and I cursed for ages as I carefully refashioned the rear brake plates.
The Wheels are from a Ford Grandad Scorpio.
Tyres!!!! Thought the corenering was a bit poo

i no these are not ford wheels there merc c class but i made these centre caps using mk1 golf caps and glueing and spraying etc might help?

Now they are sexy little numbers (this kind of talk depresses my wife - no idea why!)

The prob with Ford wheels is that mine (apparantly not 3rustateers) fit very snugly over the dustcapsleaving no room for the Golf Centres to come through , so to speak.

It may work on the rear hubs, will go and play when its light.

Buy a T25 and you too can lose your wife, family, friends and social life - thinking of packing it in and taking up crack cocaine as it appears to be cheaper with less impact on your life!

i actually used merc centres and glued the golf ones to them so yiou coulduse the ford ones cut to let the centre through and them gle the golf over the hole wich is what i had to do ?

your wheels are the other granny type (mine are the flat spoke type) thats probably went on with no bother at all, but if i want to put the centre caps on i will need spacers, so if you want to get them on as they should be, you will need 20= 14x1.5mm wheel nuts (with ford taper) not radius.
4 wheel spacers, 10 extended rear studs,and 10 60mm conversion studs (or cut 14x1.5 allthread) for the front. all in £60 or £70 squid ish.
