The settings are not the same.
Not the end of the world if he gets them mixed up though, it'll just rattle and run like crap.

mechanic knows they are hydraulic, he isnt exactly my mechanic, just well known locally as a carb specialist so took it to him in the hope that it may be something simple, which of course it isnt !
Think I stated in previous post that vw specialists thin on the ground here, all of them bit of a drive and have to arrange to be picked up etc...and of course its fine if your van is running well enough to get there....
Having said that have found one or two air-cooled specialits to be rubbish too.
Havent spoken to the guy today, so will wait and keep you posted
