No Lee, it's still an AFN ECU. The other ECU I was using was the same but was faulty. It has made a massive difference all round.


Hi Tom,

What differences has it made? I am going to be getting a scan gauge soon and as we have the same loom set up I am just wondering if I am exposed to any of the problems you had. How did you find out it was the ECU?

The problems were nothing to do with the Scangauge. They were apparent without the Scangauge connected. The ECU has always had problems more so after the case pressurised but I had to wait for another to come along as I wanted to retain the imobolisser.

Mario said he needed to replace the ECU.

It was nothing to do with the wiring.

I think the Grimsal Pass would be much less of an issue now, which is the main reason I bought the Scangauge. I'm not sure I would have bought it otherwise. Just seems like something to make you worry about what the engine is doing.

Phew!!!

You should be fine now and give you an excuse to go back and give it another go :wink: My van flew up there in third (I know you have a longer 3rd but mine would rev right up) apart from when I hit 2400rpm when it had a slight lag that picked up if I took my foot off the gas and floored it again. I thought it was due to the altitude but in the back of my mind I was really thinking the point of going electronic was that it was constantly adjusting to altitude etc so I shouldnt be getting that. Turned out to be the small pipe going after the air filter,( pre Maf had come off and it was sucking in shizer and all sorts over the maf sensor sending it slightly dodgy and finishing it off on Sailsbury plain after sucking in some muddy water) had come off :roll:

Its funny isnt it how a van with an engine conversion will pod on for ever on the UK roads and plodding along on green lanes without any problems with faults, but when you hit the sort of roads like the Grimsal pass it is sure to flag up any problems.
