* You see you could type that long story out a dozen times but it's easier for me to just ask. The same question over and over again :lol:

Ian, I see your point, in terms of many times answering the same question, but surely it's better either to politely pass on yer knowledge to someone else, even if its available elsewhere, or not bother replying if its going to be a bit of a sharp response.
Now I know, we all have bad days, and get tired of having to repeat things, but its not like we are forced to reply on here.
I'd rather have no reply than a harsh comment. And that's no disrespect to anyone, particularly those that do repeatedly give the same info to those like me with what might seem daft, oh here we go again, type questions.

Yes theres alot in the wiki, and theres alot if you search. But theres also a lot to be had from personal replies. You and others on here have so much knowledge regarding these VW's, it's a shame if it just becomes "refer to the manual", as i doubt very much if there is anything new to be covered on these vans, so that would mean lets just stop the tech forums and rely on searching past info.

Just a case of IMHO :ok

This is just one more reason why just because you can reproduce doesn't mean you should.

now you were the only one that voiced opinion and said you wouldnt use synthetic instead of taking the pi$$,but take personal attack from my post and reply with that? maybe your parents should of been told not to reproduce.

wiki is ok facts sometimes but peoples experiances and explanations as to why tend to stick in my mind

and i'm with dan on repettative questions let someone else answer them!

The trouble is that the free-range hard of thinking keep getting the answer wrong ... something with expensive implications for other people. :roll:

Helping people is what we do BUT it's nice if they try to help themselves as well.

leg bags.. sour lot... impotent... I was bunched in that response, after not taking the pi$$.. so you got it.. and there's plenty more.
I suggest you learn to compose your self before posting, and make sure you don't include those that help with your pathetic attempt at insults..

To try and cure the tappet racket i decided to be radical and change from mineral oil for the very first ever time to 15/40 semi synth oil. No doubt my engine will fall to bits, but, in the meantime the good news is the tappet racket has vanished. Reverse logic? Who knows. If my engine does blow up I will let you know and change back to mineral oil.

I'm impartial here (as is my way) but I think the sharpness stems from SO, SO many asking which oil, what oil, almost weekly (daily sometimes). Don't let it rattle you Rowlesy but do have a read on the WIKI relating to oil. There is no hard/fast rule when it comes to correct oil, more hard experience I think.

https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Al ... ecommended" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some do use synthetic and some odd grades to be sure but the above gives some useful pointers and a lot more info about oil than I feel I'd want to (excuse the pun), 'rattle' on about all over again. What makes it more useful perhaps is it was put together by two guys from different ends of the v-dub mechanics scale but we agreed on all of it. At the same time, some owners have all the luck and get away with Stork margerine. Hope it helps anyway :D
