light is activated by the the tell tale switch which is mechanically operated by the shaft which is operated by the vacuum unit, you can swap the vacuum pipes around to your hearts content but the light will only come on when the unit is coupled same as the difflocks light only comes on when they are on, it's an idiot warning system
Sorry to hijack the post but i have an issue with my "three knob" system.
When i got the van back form the Nutz i was surprised to see that the vac reservoir was bypassed (its still there but not connected to anything) as everything worked fine i didn’t worry.
However, now none of them is working. I have checked the electrical side at the warning lights end and all seems well and i have also pulled off all the pipes at the actuators and i am getting a vacuum.
So, does that mean that although i am getting a vacuum i am not getting enough to actuate the system?
If so does anyone have a diagram of the whole system (i have seen lots of how individual parts of it work but i just need to know how the reservoir links in)
I've got a good VC & a decoupler (not working yet! ) but I was hoping to have it in 4X4 most of the time & just decoupled for long, fast motorway runs, not possible?
Yes it is possible ...... this, I believe, is what a de coupler is for. There is another device that de couples the front axle from the rear ..... its called a VC !!
If you change the type of switch so that it works while the device is de coupled you will have your little green light on

That sounds like a good idea i have by mistake pushed the knob in whilst switching the rear one off ! can be a bit
