To get going I'd be looking to connct the extra pipe outlet from the 2.1 style thero housing to the pierburg carb, you then have the connection to inlet manufold on the new carb so essentially your existing pipe is still connected the same but with the carb in the line. Standard paŕallel pipe will likely fit have a look if diameters are the same. I don't think it will make any difference to carb choke if flow direction is different to standard (haven't checked)

that thermo housing probably just needs a new o ring and cleanup, they can warp and crack though so if you take it off have a good check.

many Aftermarket o rings are not the high temp yellow as made by elring, not sure where to get the yellow, I got mine from a head gasket kit.

Ok - makes sense.

Another video upload on the way. It's the easiest way to ask questions I think.
Give me 20 mins, I've just walked in from work and I'm hanging.com - there is a nice mug of Tetley with my name all over it. :ok

looks like I'm wrong, 2.1 oil cooler pipe connection on thermostat housing is about 20mm od, choke pipe is about 12mm od.

it would not too much to adapt, best check your thermo housing first.

lhs rhs is as viewed standing at rear of vehicle looking at engine, back is as you look ( towards front of vehicle)

pipes

1 fuel out of carb ( pipe on your solex on lhs at the back) this goes to lhs of bulkhead seen in your vid, this returns excess fuel to fuel tank

2 fuel in from fuel pump ( pipe on rhs of solex at the back) trace this pipe it should go to lower pipe on fuel pump, upper pipe on fuel pump goes to the rhs of bulkhead and comes from fuel tank

3 it's not a pipe as you guessed, its the throttle stop screw ( sets idle revs) plastic anti tamper bit missing from many carbs

4 coolant pipe already discussed

wires

1 cut off valve, this connects to black wire on ignition coil (ignition 12v)
2 part load duct heater, tbis connects to the manufold heater wire, I can see you have this in your pic.
3 choke heater, my van it's on the black ignition 12v same as 1.

look in the solex for any black electrical wires, not sure if it has 12v ignition connections

Yep.

There is one black wire from the relay box in the engine bay ( it looks like from there in the dark ) to Solex.
From there it also links to another port on the Solex too.
( Both Solex ports therefore connect to the same 12v connection from the van - just daisy chained. )

Are you saying electrical connection 2 on the Pierburg connects to the wire on the Inlet manifold?

I can do another vid if you want?

ok so black ignition 12V wire connects to 1 & 3
manufold heater is obvious, it's the wire that hangs out of the manufold under carb, it's red in loom and pinky colour from heater, see if it has another connection, if not you need to cut into it for 2
This heater circuit is 12v cold with ignition on but switched off hot, it's switched by relay in black box and blue switch in thermostat housing.

will take some pics at weekend if you still need, it's cold, dark, wet and I have been working since Sunday.

did you measure the thermostat housing pipe spigot diameter?

Do you mean carb and manifold connect like this..?

Image

At the moment the manifold wire on mine goes to van wiring, not the solex.

No that's not right.
the red wire connects to the relay No.1 in the junction box along with the carb heater and choke heater
There's small loom for this.
