Just to clarify the gearbox is the correct one got under the van today DK gear box.

I replaced my throttle cable and was amazed at the difference in performance. There was a break in the cable cover where muck and rust had accumulated, so the cable wasn't responding properly and I don't think it was getting full throttle. (Not the same engine by the way - 1600D)

I agree. There are recommendations on the forum already about trusted garages in our part of the country. You don't need a VW specialist but a good garage that can work out your carburettor problem. Then when they've fixed it you can enjoy your camper! Mine is well looked after by my local garage.
