Are you sure you need to put the fuseboxes at the front and rear?
If you kept them close to the battery, you'd only need a short run of thick cable. If you must have them further away then you should really consider fusing the supply wires *close to the battery* as well. It's no use having 8 fuses in a box at the back of your van if a short develops in the main supply cable on it's way to the back...
Also, consider how likely it is that you will have all loads switched on at once. That might affect the maximum figures you come up with. If you really are talking about loads of 40A or so, then you either must have the worlds biggest battery, or you don't mind it running flat in a few hours!
Also, don't underestimate voltage drop caused by a long run of cable. At 40 amps, a resistance of just 0.1 ohms would mean you had 8 volts at your fusebox instead of 12!
Sorry to sound so negative, but it's best to think about these things first before you do all the work...
