Factory fitted side window replacement

Hi all,

Its time to put my side windows back in. Factory fitted (Devon).

Any advice/tips welcomed.

Most Youtubes etc seem to deal with panel van window seals so if you know any links that would be good. I've helped other folk with a winscreen but this will be the first time that I've been in charge. Will have teenage son for help, but he'll just be holding stuff!

I got decent VeeWib seals from brickwerks so will set too it soon. What sort of cord is best? Someone suggested a washing line to me but that seems too stiff. Do you start at the bottom or top? and are the corners difficult....

They go in OK, much like a windscreen. Stiff repro seals won't help. Do it on a warm day and keep the seals in a bucket of red hot water til you use them.
Plenty of lubrication and a friend on the outside pushing the glass in helps. I start with the cable coming out of the middle at the bottom, and work around to the top right.
Strimmer line works OK, as does that washing line with the plasticy coating on. Avoid rough rope.

Best to use sealant to ensure a leak free fit.

non setting sealant is good practice, but it can get very messy!
I've probably fitted 40 windows in t25s, I tried sealant a few times early on and ended up with it all over the place - it goes in the same lip that you put the string in, so it gets on your string and all over your hands. I'm open to suggestions of a better way of doing it, but I've been going without ever since and never had anything leak. Luck of the draw, I suppose.

Sealant goes on the outer part of the rubber seal, the cord is to pull the inner rubber edge inside the van.

Cheers for that, I have some thin washing line that will do the trick... A warm day at this time of year might be tricky! I was thinking of starting bottom to top. My lad will be usfully for pushing from the outside but not much help. He's not mechanicly minded......

I done a few windows last summer. Used washing up line from the pound shop. lubed up with a spray bottle of washing up liquid.

Was an absolute doddle.

Good idea regarding boiling water for this time of year.
