Nice work on that mate - i’m sure you can sort out that trailing arm bracket. If you’re looking at cutting & replacing it, Schofields do the bracket and support plate in one.
Ah nice to know yeah ideally I'd like to replace them.. well passenger anyway driver side was done couple of years back. Its solid but part of me would prefer just taking out the lot and putting in new, just for peace of mind, thanks for the heads up. Schofields was the only place I didn't look as I was in a bit of a panic
Shame they don't do the shock towers..
Today was tackling the hole above the arm mount / jackingpoint.
No pictures as I was motoring through it and was in no frame of mind with the sun and panic of getting it done before tomorrow as Im due up t north, though I dont recommend pulling half your interior out of the van in 28 degrees full sun..
Anyways I'd been given a repair panel for that side as luck would have it so I just cut what I needed.
Found a savage bodge as the lower side of the van on the passenger rear has some bitumen tape all over it..Anyway cut through it to find that someone had just put another panel over the old one.
As much as I was grumbling about it its a good job I did it as the vertical strengthening bit behind the outer panel was rusted away, so some 3mm steel in there shaped to spec and cut the old with a dremel, got that patched up and painted.
Put the new outer bit in, all welded up and sealed under the arch where I had to make a closure plate.
as quick fixes go its reet, not gonna skim filler it as I am going to be buying the complete rear quarter panel as the arch is buggered and theres rust on the seams so I will be able to take the time to cut all the bodge out and do it right.
