Morning all
a bit of a strange one yesterday I had been driving for 2 hrs and I came to some traffic lights there was a bit of a thump and the brakes wouldn't release. I tried to move of twice but the van wouldn't budge then all of a sudden we were ok I was moving .I pulled over asasp nothing looked out of the ordinary the wheels were cool no fluids anywhere so I finish the rest of my trip another 15 mile or so I am a bit worried about my return trip any thoughts would be great I've had the van 12 years LHD AAZ TD .
Thanks in advance Danny .

First question -
Foot brake or hand-brake?
Second question -
Have you had any work done on the van recently?
If work has been done, then consider if the wrong parts or fitting technique has been used.
If no work recently, then do the brakes need a good clean and service.?
Dirty, faulty or sticky shoe or spring,
or corroded back plate causing a shoe to catch,

Re: Brakes jammed on then released
Thanks for the quick response.
No work on brakes this year but did change the shoes last year I've been down to Cornwall from Yorkshire this year no problems.
I think it was the foot brakes to be honest it all happened so quickly was at a very busy traffic light ! just had time to put hazards on and I was of again
Was a bit out of the blue I will check all of the above many thanks for the quick reply.
Danny.

Re: Brakes jammed on then released
Before editing out, I initially queried the front bearings, as I had half remembered this thread.
viewtopic.php?t=179236
But that was a judder, not a jamming on.
‐---------------
If you have done no work, then it could be a simple matter of dirty callipers.(front) or back plate (rear).
Pretty sure it is not a stray stone in the front calliper, as this would normally cause a scraping noise, not jamming.
Looks like a matter of ruling out the obvious and working from there.
