Removal and Fitting cab door window scraper seals

Post by evilgoat »

Hello

done a search of the wiki and the archive and couldn't find any detail about removing the old scraper seals from the cab door window (the J-shaped seal) and fitting a new one.

Are there any tips or tricks anyone can share before I go out and make a pigs breakfast of the job and end up swearing lots, upsetting the neighbours and spend the rest of my bank holiday weekend grumpy and miserable?

:D

well i wind the window down, ease the rear felt / metal seal away and then lift the J seal up and note it may be glued/bonded to the 1/4 light rubber. there are just 4 clips that it sits down into.

The clips can come loose and drop down into the door so just go slowly and carefully.
Refitting is reversal for removal as Haynes would say. Just get then nice and snug at the end and push fully home.

Did this a couple of weeks ago, there were no clips on my door, the J scrapers were an exact fit and simply pushed tightly into place without any problem. Nice easy job - even I could do it lol.

http://www.weidefamily.net/vanagon/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Use the tabs on the page and go to Body, then Window Seal R/R. Detailed step by step instructions if you use the green arrows by the pictures.

Pictures are always a good help when like me you start out without the slightest clue!!
