AAZ to 1Y?
My engine has some major mechanical issues, possible head gasket, just as a alternative to getting it fixed if i sourced a 1Y is it a straight swap over?

Re: AAZ to 1Y?
From what I understand 1y and AAZ have same block.
The 1y I had was stamped 1.9TD.
Non turbo as standard but it seems you have all the bits to fit turbo.

Re: AAZ to 1Y?
up to what year was the 1Y used? Is it just the block they share, or is it the head as well? Could be a good way to get a spare engine incase your AAZ goes bang

Re: AAZ to 1Y?
Its all internal differences as far as i remember.
As Weldore says, get one with a TD stamped on it and you should be fine.
Im not aware what the internal differences are and i've never done it. Mr Hutch and others have done it quite successfully.

Re: AAZ to 1Y?
Right thanks, AAZs are thin on the ground 1Y is available but the one on for sale is too much. I'll wait and see what the diagnosis is first.

Re: AAZ to 1Y?
Word is aaz engined cars are being snapped up and shipped to Eastern Europe, getting hard to come by I dont have a drive way to store a car while it gets stripped so my options are a bit limited that way.
