Hi.
Couple of questions, Ive installed a 1.9tdi into my T3.
it now starts fine.. but it sounds to me like the starter gear is not disengaging fully off the flywheel ring gear so after the engine has started you can hear the ring gear grinding against the starter. Well thats what it sounds like to me and ive had a second opinion aswell
Ive read on here somewher e you need to use a like a padding gasket between the starter and the bell housing which ive sourced and tried.. can anybody shed any light?
I now know im going to get asked what engine it is... well, if im honest I dont know, ive located the engine number 06B97 but cant find anything on google to cross referency that to one of these three letter engine numbers you guys talk about on here (ie AFN)
engine was removed from 97ish vw sharan..
so if anybody can shed any light on engine id and also starter noise?
thanks in advance!
tdi

Re: tdi
that's not the engine number thats a casting number the engine code and number are stamped on a machined flat on the block below number 3 injector iirc I don't do diesel but those that do don't post
