Diesel JX Exhaust Manifold Blowing

Post by hanloncole »

Hello
i've got blowing from the manifold where it meets the engine, and obviously need to tak ethe manifold off to rectify.
I've heard that the manifold can corrode and need machining and also crack and a new gasket ain't necessarily going to solve this.
Anyone any experience of this, do i need to remove turbo seperateley of can the whole unit minus the exhaust down pipe be taken off.
i suspect the manifold nuts will be rusted solid, any tips on getting these off or is it just nut splitter job?
many thanks, van still running fine just ticking noise and soot in engine bay.
Regards to all
Simon

The manifold is prone to warping, needs removing, turbo taking off then machining to bring the face flat again, otherwise you`ll never get it to seal. It`s a machine-shop job to get it done properly. Try Simon Baxter at Brickwerks, not positive but I think he was talking about getting a jig sorted at his local machine-shop so they could do them easily (they are an awkward thing to set up for machining), he may have them on exchange ready done, or may be able to offer the service to you.

Keep it real.
