I think so. JK indicate that this is the case here where they have a late tank and filler sold as suitable for early vehicles. It is JK though..

no you cant sorry.
the later filler neck wont fit an early tank, different dia necks where they meet the tank. (80 something mm and 50 something mm)
you can only use a early filler with an early tank and vice versa!!!
put a wanted post up. someone will have one somewhere.

You asked if a late tank AND filler neck will fit an early van and not if a late filler neck will fit an early tank.

As Jason says your out of luck as they are not interchangeable

Don't forget to order one of these as well as mine had virtually crumbled away

It's the retaining ring that the metal part of the filler necks fits to. The part that the petrol cap locks onto.
