Wasn't sure, it's in a similar position to the std carb, it was the yellow connection I spotted resting on the inlet.

Good spot Bigjcc, but that doesn't need to be connected to the Weber mate

But it doesn't want to be floating about either incase it shorts on any thing pointy, the ignition 12v circuit is NOT fused.

Hi Ads,
Go to Gower & Lee if you need a carb kit - going to overhaul mine in the summer. You may even be able to get the singular gasket from them.
Just a quick question - how is the top coolant hose from the manifold to choke unit set up on your van? Mine uses part of the existing hose:

.....with an extended piece of hose added so it can reach the front where it's located: (I think the connector is on the side of the carb on the Pierburg so fits alright using the hose above)

Would be interesting to see how it's fitted on another bus

What problems are you having with yours?

Hi ,
I've found a pic of the carb that a couple of mnoths old - you can see the two hoses connected to the choke. I think one goes near the manifold and the other into the cooling system. Hopefully that helps u a little. I've never had a great look at them. But the choke did come off when the engine was warm so Im guessing they are working ok.

Anyway my issues are that after replacing the fuel lines on my van a while back - she wont idle now. Just slowly dies. So I think its fuel related. Currently looking at carb issues - so a new gasket and changes to float level.

Re: Backfire issue sorted (hopefully)!
Cheers for the pic Ad's - it looks as though you've got the earlier Weber as the connections are different and the hoses on mine stick out the front meaning the hosing doesn't reach! The fuel return hoses are in a different position as well.
Does it eventually start and run? If it does, move the hose about that comes from the fuel pump to carb - I had a very small air leak on that hose and the van would die when I moved it. I've also recently replaced the fuel pump on mine - I got the cheaper one from Brickwerks so for a tenner might be worth giving that a go as well. Let us know how you get on.

Re: Backfire issue sorted (hopefully)!
OK, thought I'd provide an another update to this thread - Backfire returned with a vegeance last week and was promptly back firing like a good un'. At one point I felt like John Candy driving that Cadillac in Uncle Buck.
I managed to pull into a car park after the van stopped but then couldn't get it started for love nor money so I called out the AA much to my annoyance as it really was a last resort after I changed everything over that I thought possible.
Anyway, chap comes out tests the usual and using a spark plug tester find that one minute there's a spark and then there's not and Mr AA said could possibly be an earthing issue. Fiddled around with the connection to the ignition module and subsequent wiring & she started up. Got home and she drove faultlessly.
So today went round my mates and we've gone earth overkill - new earth on battery terminal using lorry grade wiring and connections and made about 4 in the engine bay. Engine to body, dizzy to engine and further earth to coil bolt connection and from there to screw connector on module. Then cleaned up other wiring that earths on the engine block and repositioned that too.
First and foremost, she turned over much quicker and then went on a 30 minute test drive to bring van up to temp and came back on the A2. All faultless so hopefully this has resolved the problem once and for all.
If anyone is getting the same kind of symptoms, let me know and I'll post up a picture of what's been done.

Re: Backfire issue sorted (hopefully)!
Well, spoke to soon again! Took van for a run and after about 25 mins on the M20, get slight hesitancy when on throttle, then one backfire, she then carries on driving fine but then won't hold tickover & silently stalls if I put the clutch in or need to stop at lights. If I restart she holds tickover fine?! Van drives absolutely faultlessly in between.
I've pretty much replaced everything bar the distributor, however, I'm wondering if I should go back to the single electrode plugs (currently running platinums), but presume she would run rough constantly if the plugs were at fault.
This is really puzzling me now as the problem isn't constant and happens just once so difficult to pinpoint one particular thing (apart from the episode the other week when it backfired like a good un & then had to get the AA out and found an earth issue which has now been rectified).
