It might be more than ideal thats my point

in the 80s nobody cared about fuel consmption, if you could lower top speed revs with a diesel box maybe thats a good thing?

New crank case seal and V-belt pulley wheel bolt to 60Nm.

I’d best get this on first though, nuts @ 20Nm. One of the special oil pump washers broke though, but I should replace them all according to Haynes.

I just use standard nuts with dirko HT or some other sealant
ideally need to get end float to zero and so the gasket provides the endfloat
wet and dry on a flat surface.
align the diamonds on the gears I think

need one of these really

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/METRIC-DTI-DI ... SwK6RZE1VG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

failing that make up something that bolts on that you can use feeler gauges to measure the end float, then measure shims and swap or replace as needed.

is it me or are you missing thrust washer?

I will have one spare if you need

it's an early engine so you usually don't have to 0.4mm thick larger diameter shim but there is no reason why you can't fit one

How thick was the oil pump cover washer? It should be the thinnest, flimsiest gasket, (4thou from memory?) and I couldn't see one that looked that thin in your photo. If you fitted a 15thou gasket, the oil pump end clearance will be way too big, and the pump will be unlikely to prime itself or produce decent pressure.

Or quite possibly, I may have missed something here.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
