Advice on LPG adaptor vs new underslung tank

Hi. I'm not sure which is the right forum but I'm seeking advice on LPG for the cooker & fridge for a February 1985 T3 Westfalia Joker (1.9 L petrol engine). I have an underslung tank with the original german thread. I was told I needed a 1 ¾ inch ACME to UK/Dutch bayonet adapter.  However, I havn’t been able to source one from the usual outfits. When I contacted Gasit and Autogas I was basically told they were out of stock & unlikely to get more and they suggested replacing the tank. So firstly, do you think this is the correct adapter & does anyone know where I can source one? If not would you go with the Gaslow or Gasit tanks and are there any fitters you can recommend near Cirencester/ Cheltenham/Swindon? I also have a disconnected petrol Erbacher unit so I was thinking about fitting a propex HS2800 with a GOK or Cavagner regulator at some stage and it might be sensible to get this fitted at the same time?? That is not your fill.

Your fill is at the RHS and not on the tank.

There are plenty of manuals to guide you to the fill.

Dont be messing with gas like that.

That looks like the vent release valve without it's cap.

As above the filling point is at the far right end - it has a screw cap cover that you can see resting at the bottom in the picture.




You need a bayonet adaptor like this one.



We actually found that we needed to ‘stack’ two of these adapters to get sufficient clearance for the filling nozzle - they have an internal thread that’s the same as the filling point and so can simply screw into each other.

If you don't have one already, it would be worth downloading a copy of the Westfalia camper manual from the westfaliat3.info website here.

What's the two valves after the regulator? For BBQ outlet?

The red lever is a shutoff valve after the regulator, and the rotary switch connects the external bbq point into the system. By selecting the right combination of settings you can feed the internal equipment only from the tank, feed the internal equipment and an external ‘bbq’ from the tank, or connect an external gas bottle and regulator to feed the internal equipment instead of using the tank.

BW have replacements here for the stickers which were originally fitted to the tank cover to show the settings.

I spoke to GASIT aswell , they also said replace the tank they are not very helpful at all and just want to sell you a new tank .
I use LPGAUTOGAS now Mick is the owner , very very helpful and knowledgeable try them .

The BBQ point...? I think somebody in another thread has recently added one to their gas setup, so you could probably put something together. However, I think that specific combined regulator-valve-outlet combination in the picture is probably a Westfalia specific part.
