Mercedes E C class 15" steel wheels fit y/n?
I hope someone can help....I have been doing some research including going onto the Wiki page on alternative wheels and have ended up confused.... I want to restore my lowered DOKA to origional ride height and put some steel wheels on with all terrain tyres.... Mid Devon Country roads and driving around on Dartmoor and in the woods don't work with the slammed suspension!
I have been told the way forward is 15" Steel wheels 6 or 7J. And that Mercedes are a great option.
I have been offered via someone else some Mercedes steel wheels, E C class CLK 15" PCD 5x 112 6.5J ET40 CB66.6
I must admit some of those numbers a letters mean absolutely nothing to me.....
The important thing is would they fit?
If anyone out there can answer this question I would really appreciate it!

I think it's going to be close, the tyre choice could be what makes or breaks this one. That wide a rim with a high offset will most likely catch on the front suspension. Can you have a trial fitting?

Thanks for the reply I know the 15" rim with 6> 7 J is tried and tested so maybe they are ok..... I will report back!

Most merc steels from c and e class bolt straight on without longer studs, but the ET of 40 would more than likely need a spacer to bring back to about 35, but try the wheels first and see if they fit.

15" rim diameter
Pitch Circle Diameter - 5 fixing holes, in a 112mm diameter circle
6.5" rim width, J-profile rim shape
ET (Einpresstiefe - German for "insertion depth") - 40mm offset (mounting face 40mm away from the wheel's centre line)
Centre bore 66.6mm diameter.
Don't forget to make sure that the bolt holes have the same angle as the nuts/studs you're using, especially since the T25 uses the fasteners rather than the hub to centre the wheel on the hub.

You might be OK....because these are 15inch and the suspension upright slopes inwards so the larger diameter increases the clearance because of the way the upright is angled.

the comon ones
6j x 15 et49 spacers needed. fitted with 12mm spacers i had. but close ish to the suspension.
6.5j x 15 et 37 will bolt on without a spacer but very close 1or 2mm away. would fit spot on with 5mm spacers.
7j x 15 et 37 fit spot on with a 10mm spacer.
rare ones.
7j x 15 et 25. no spacers needed.
all of the above were fitted on the front. all merc oe rims . all car rims rather than light van.
the last ones i run currently on my van.
they are from late 80´s early 90´s v8 mercs. not sure on the model.
its easier to find the 16" wheels that fit.
i got a set of 7x16 et 31 merc steels the other day. for less that 100 quid.
fit straight on , no spacers needed.
i have another set with my winter tyrs on.
the wheels you have listed there will fit fine with a 10mm spacer.
any less of a spacer would be tight on the suspension.

i have spare ones but im keepng hold of them as they are hard to get.

Just theoretically, like... Going up from the standard 5.5 x 14 rims and 185 rubber to the Merc rims with "appropriate" rubber, what's the score with the spare wheel tray?

Never looked at it but I imagine you could weld/bolt in standoffs to get the required depth in the well. I don't think the overall size of the new wheel/tyre will make much odds - just its thickness (width) you'd have to accommodate.

Indeed, I was thinking the overall rolling radius would stay about the same - just that extra width. If it's 6.5" rims, then we're going to be looking at something like 225/60 15 - almost exactly bob-on the same rolling radius. That's an extra 40mm of width to fit in. I've not looked at the spare tray that closely to see if it's feasible to modify it, just idly wondering if anybody else had before I start thinking. I know, I know - an odd "space-saver" spare, but it's a real PITA to then lob the filthy flat tyre into the "house", apart from anything else.

I looked this week. Wheel carrier is attached to two tags which appear to be welded to chassis. You'd therefore need to grind these off and come up with your own custom fittings but doesn't look like rocket science if you have a welder.
