Westfailia Under Floor Gastank.

Post by Titus A Duxass »

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me where the gas tank hangs from?

Does it need new holes/inserts in the floor or does it utilise the captive nuts that are already in the floor?

If your are fitting to a non westy floor you have to drill and put bolts through from the inside.

Cheers, confirms my suspicions.
I'll have to lift the bloody floor again.
Maybe this idea is not so good after all.

The gas tanks are great. Worth the effort in my opinion. Especially if you run you BBQ from it. Cheap refills and more room inside.

I would like to run my Propex off it and have a BBQ/Stove/Cadac take-off point.

I need to do some searching and find out what I need to connect the above up.

Where have you got yours (left or right hand side)?

I use mine for cooking, fridge and Cadac. I fitted mine in the exact same place as a westy. I was fortunate to have one to take the measurements from. I made sure it was in the exact place in case I wanted to fit a westy waste tank at a later date.

I've a couple of tanks and one didn't have a BBQ take off point.

Have you got any pics of it installed?

My main concern is overloading the mounting points and having the screws pull through the floor.

Mine has two take offs via one switchable valve (at least that's my understanding).
I'll take a photo of the valve tomorrow and you can correct me if necessary.

Cheers

Use M10 bolts with nuts between floor and tank, then tank and then nuts and washers. I spot welded the bolt heads
To the floor but this isn't essential.

I can take picks tomorrow of how it looks with no tank as I removed it from my Syncro for better ground clearance.

BBQ take off is a push fitting. You can get them from BW's.

If I understand correctly, this fits...

...into the lower outlet on this (the one with the red cap on).

Am I correct?

If this is a Westy tank get in touch by PM. I have original brackets and bits I never used for one.

Just for clarity.
This is what I spent my 25,00 euro on.

It is in a bad state cosmetically but it still holds pressure and had gas in when I picked it up.
It came with all the paperwork and, naturally, the TüV has expired.

My intention is to get it blasted and repainted or plastic coated and then get it retested.

you got the same brackets as mine, when you hold it up underneath it only really fits right in ones place.
i fitted a internal quick release as well

and put it inside the multivan seat

Brilliant, cheers Lloydy.
I like the idea of the internal QR.
Have you got the lot connected up to a gas distribution block?

The hard line coming from my tank, as you can see, is very rusty.
Could I replace that steel line with a copy one?
