Devon Moonraker side elevating roof struts

Post by Turx »

Hi All,
I have a 1980 T25 Devon Moonraker with the side elevating 'Double Top' roof and my roof struts are a bit 'lazy' so I'm thinking of replacing them.  Just Kampers sells replacement units at a reasonable price which are advertised as being for the T25 Moonraker side elevating roof, but they're rated at 500N whereas the ones I've got on there are rated at 450N.  I've see a few posts here and in other places concerning damage done to the roof and/or frame as a result of previous owners (it's always previous owners  ) fitting struts that are too powerful so I wondered if 50N difference is going to be a problem?  Any wisdom gratefully received!
Cheers,
Ian

Thanks both, looks like I will have a chat with SGS but supply them with the details from Pete's original thread so you're both right! :D

Looks like I'd definitely better stick with the 450N ones rather the the 500s at JK...

Thanks Pete, saw those images in the original thread.  Just to confirm, those struts were actually bought from SGS right?

Hi,
Not sure where the struts came from as they were fitted to the van by the previous owner.
Sorry I can give you more info.
I assume the Double Top roof is the standard side elevating roof ?

Regards

Hi Pete/ Da Dan,
Yes, as far as I know 'double top' is the standard Devon side elevating roof.  I'll give SGS a ring and see what they say about refilling/ buying a new one.
Cheers,
Ian
