Westy lifting mechanism fault **Repaired*

Post by badgerfax »

My lifting mechanism has developed a fault. I am glad this has happened at home & not on a camp site caus right now I can't shut the roof :?

Looks like the end of the horizontal bar has worn itself off and the pivot is miss-aligned.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Ok so after removing the lifting mechanism I discovered that over the years the pivot had sawed its way through the bar

Both ends had been pretty much sawn clean off

So I got the guy in the unit next to work to weld up a solid bit of bar to it

All fixed & working now & the roof lifts real easy. All for the price of a couple of beers :ok

Have fixed a couple of these on westy bay windows in the past, i think with all the dodgy tight replacement roof canvas being sold a lot more lifting mechanisms will be sawing away happily when your straining to push the roof up.
