Ay up,
I'm not sure what I'm after as when I disassembled the front damper there was rubber and rust crumble around the top of the damper under the nut and washer?
They are all in rust hell and I need to replace these parts, couldn't find them listed on B'werks, Vagcat is awol so does anyone know where I can get these parts (or there respective part numbers) or is it one for the main vw dealer.

It sounds as if the 'helper spring' (251 411 123F) has disintergrated - there are metal bits inside the rubber.

from the top
cover cap for nut, essential 251 413 437
nut m10x1 N 011 011 5
plate for damping ring (big fo washer) 251 413 431
damping ring 701 513 121
bush inside damping ring 251 413 439 C
then it's the chassis
underneath is 251 411 123 F which is the rubber bumpstop on top of the dust cover 113 412 305 01C
bush and the nut are nla from VW, Baxter has them I think, if not I can probably get them
